Grow Through It: Health Issues & Illness
Poet, philosopher and author Mark Nepo reflects on how being diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma in his 30s profoundly shaped his life, work, and understanding of what it means to be fully alive. Nearly four decades after surviving cancer, Mark shares how letting fear and difficulty move through him — rather than resisting them — transformed the way he lives, writes, and teaches.
He talks about dropping from his head into his heart, letting his heart guide his head and not the other way around. He speaks about life being in every moment, the extraordinary in the ordinary, and learning that being a survivor isn’t about how long we live but how fully we live. It’s not about counting time, but about inhabiting life.
Drawing wisdom from his experience and many spiritual paths, Mark also offers heartfelt guidance for anyone navigating their own life challenge: hold nothing back, ask questions instead of stating beliefs, let your heart be your guide, and ask for help.
